ALBS design build firm was founded on the principle of improvement through teamwork. Through efforts of skilled craftsman, general contractors, laborers, and support staff, albs continues to develop and build austin's neighborhoods and commercial districts to support our rapidly expanding city. We call these improvement initiatives "buidling austin". ALBS believes that by focusing on the concept of improving the community in which we live, we can also improve the lives of those that live in it.
Albs's hope is that with each improvement, we can help individuals not only enjoy their space, but also thrive in their environments, fully utilizing their homes or businesses to realize their greater potential. Our goal is to inspire others to contribute on a local level, realizing that although milestones can be acheived through individual efforts, what seems like unreachable dreams can be gifted through power in numbers.

donate materials to the ReStore
The Austin Habitat for Humanity ReStore takes donations of new and gently-used building materials and sells them to the community at affordable prices. The first of its kind in the U.S., the Austin Habitat ReStore celebrated its 20th anniversary in May 2012 and contributes almost $500,000 each year to support Habitat's homeownership programs.

Habitat's new home construction program raises money for materials and in turn, low-income families work off a down payment through some cash and a lot of hard work. They call it sweat equity. Clients work 300 hours building other families’ homes before they ever get to begin on their own. After the house is built by volunteers, families purchase their home – their very own home – from Austin Habitat with a 0% interest, 30-year mortgage. Their monthly mortgage payments cycle directly back into the mission of Austin Habitat allowing Habitat for Humanity to provide the same life-changing experience for another family.
The Home Repair program works with those in the city earning less than 60% median family income and in need of critical home repairs. Many of these clients are elderly and/or disabled. By bringing these homes back to a decent, livable standard, many clients are able to stay at home, in a comfortable, safe, familiar environment rather than moving to a care facility or institution.
All homeowners go through homebuyer education classes, which provides basic, important information on repairing and maintaining their homes, protecting their assets, budgeting, financial literacy and avoiding pitfalls that might lead to foreclosure.
Austin Habitat for Humanity was founded in 1985 – 27 years ago – as an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International. Our entire mission and vision are anchored around our dedication to ending the cycle of poverty housing and the deeply held belief that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live. Together with the great people of Austin, we build homes, communities and hope.
As Austin's only discount home improvement store, the ReStore is an important resource for home improvement projects and it's the best of all recycling worlds! In addition to providing affordable building materials to shoppers, it saved more than 13 million pounds of usable construction materials from the Austin landfill.
